Here in Ireland one of the most popular ways to add space to your home is by converting the attic.  Attic conversions make great use of unused existing space and are generally a lot less costly than adding on an extension.

But converting your attic doesn’t just mean adding on an extra bedroom.  Here are some of my favourite and most creative attic conversions.

And how about this for a light filling living room.

If you do need an extra bedroom, there are plenty of ways you can be creative with the space.

Wow, some great ideas there. I was considering getting my loft converted fairly cheaply, but now will need to go back to the drawing board to come up with something more inspiring!

I am in love with good light. I seek it out all the time since my photography is made with glass and light. I used to love the different lighting created at the theatre and that was one of my favourite things about it. Good lighting is amazing. Thank you for the advice. Frances

You need a really big attic to convert it to a master bedroom :) Usually the problem with the attic is the ladder and the lighting.  Regarding the lights, there are some ideas at my blog http://www.lighting-ideas.co.uk

Incredible looking conversions! Right now my girlfriend and I are actually converting an attic to a california closet we can use for all of our close. Not sure it’ll look as good as the closet conversion pictured above, but it’s going great so far.
