Mirrors are an essential decorative feature as they intensify light and add depth to a room. Used correctly mirrors add elegance and drama to a space and brighten up dark drab corners. They work great in every room particularly in hallways which are often lacking in natural light.
The Interior Design profession is like any other professional service who you employ when the need arises. Sure you could defend yourself in court if you had to, but chances are you would hire a member of the legal professional. The same goes when decorating or renovating your house, yes you probably COULD do it, but why should you!
A nice bright spacious home is always a plus. But unless you happen to live in a rambling mansion, creating a bright and spacious home can be a challenge. But with a little creativity and a few tips of the trade you’ll be amazed at what you can achieve.
A hall can be a difficult space to get right. They’re often quite narrow and have only one light source so choosing the right colour and furnishings is very important. It needs to be light and bright but also practical and durable. And it’s a high traffic area so flooring is a major consideration. Cream carpets and children’s muddy wellies are never a great mix! And of course storage is paramount so it doesn’t become a dumping ground. Big ask for a small space!
Those of you with young children will know that for little things, they have an awful lot of stuff! Who knew that along with children came train sets, and lego sets, and dolls houses, and cuddly toys and action toys and books and bricks and games and stickers and paints and crayons and ……..
Be clear with your Designer on your Interior Design Budget is it will save you time and money. After all you are paying for their sourcing time!
Hello and welcome to my Blog
My name is Karen Hughes and I'm an Interior Designer from Dublin, Ireland. I’m passionate about design and I started this blog as a way to connect with others just as passionate as myself. I tend to ramble on about all sorts of things, projects I’m working on, people, places and things that inspire me (and some that don’t). So put the kettle on, get comfy and settle in. I hope you enjoy your visit and don't forget to say hello. Visit my website to find out more about my services and view my work.
