Bloom in the Park 2011
The weather was glorious yesterday and even though I had a load of paperwork to catch up on, I decided to take myself off to the Phoenix Park for the opening day of Bloom 2011.
Now I’m the first to admit, I know NOTHING about gardening. Don’t get me wrong, I love pottering about in my garden. I love planting and watching how the garden changes with the seasons. But I have absolutely no idea what I’m doing! Sometimes I’m lucky and things take off, sometimes not so much. But that doesn’t stop me loving it!
So to spend the day wandering around admiring the fantastic gardens on display with the sun shining was a day of bliss. And trust me, there are some pretty spectacular gardens on show. There is an Alice in Wonderland garden ~ complete with Alice and Rabbit. The beautiful Ire-Su Chinese garden, which was presented by the Chinese people and which will take up permanent residence in St Annes Park in Raheny after the show. And of course the winner of RTE’s Super Garden, Ken Byrne’s recycled garden.
Woodies DIY have also some beautiful gardens on display showing us amateurs that we too can have achieve spectacular results.
But Bloom is not just about flowers. There is the Bloom kids zone which includes life size Jenga and a Teddy Bears picnic, as well as fashion shows, cookery demonstrations, and of course…. The Bord Bia Food Village. Trust me, you want to arrive hungry
And just in case the crowd gets too unruly, Templemores newest graduate is on hand to ensure there is no trouble….
If you’re in Dublin this weekend and don’t have anything planned, I recommend you get yourself down to the Phoenix Park. Opening times are 10am to 6pm and the event is open until until Monday 6th June 2011.

Hello and welcome to my Blog
My name is Karen Hughes and I'm an Interior Designer from Dublin, Ireland. I’m passionate about design and I started this blog as a way to connect with others just as passionate as myself. I tend to ramble on about all sorts of things, projects I’m working on, people, places and things that inspire me (and some that don’t). So put the kettle on, get comfy and settle in.
